About
As a part of daily life I produce images in response to things I see. Most of them are made quickly and are edited very little. When traveling or away from home I draw and / or photograph the environment around me. When more or less at home, I study the human face. Current interests are portraits, primarily drawn or digitally painted, and self-portraits. For portrait subjects I usually rely on the community of artist / subjects at Julia Kay’s Portait Party on flickr (www.flickr.com/groups/portraitparty) I have had the opportunity to meet many wonderful friends through this group.
By training and profession I am an architect. This web site is a solo project, whereas my involvement in architecture is more collaborative (www.morningsidearchitects.com). However, some design studies that I originate are posted here because I am interested in the relationship between what I call ‘functional’ drawing (which is done to develop or explore an idea) and ‘responsive’ drawing (a neurophysical explication of active seeing ).
